1. Content:

This exhibition contains two concave mirrors, and the concave spherical mirror also follows the law of reflection. When the audience's hand is placed at twice the focal length of the optical axis, an inverted image of the same size as the hand is formed, which overlaps with the hand and seems to shake hands with oneself, which is very intuitive and vivid. On the other side, both the concave mirror and the model are installed inside the booth, but through the concave mirror, participants can see a real image floating outside, but this visible thing cannot be touched.

2. Principle:

According to the principle of concave mirror imaging, an object forms an inverted real image of equal size at twice the focal length of the concave mirror on its central axis.

Concave mirror imaging

A concave mirror is used for reflective imaging. Mirrors (including convex mirrors) are not instruments that allow light to pass through, but rather reflect it back to form an image, and light follows the law of reflection. Concave mirrors can not only converge parallel light rays at the focal point, but also reflect the light emitted from the focal point into parallel light.

Imaging rule: When the distance between the object and the focal length is less than the focal length, it forms an upright and magnified virtual image. The farther the object is from the mirror, the larger the image. When the distance between objects is greater than 1 The focal length is less than 2 When the focal length is doubled, it forms an inverted and magnified real image when the object distance is equal to 2 When the focal length is doubled, it forms an inverted or equal sized real image, and when the object distance is greater than 2 When zooming in, it forms an inverted and reduced real image, and the farther the object is from the mirror, the smaller the image. The real image formed is on the same side as the object, while the virtual image formed is on the opposite side.

3. Purpose:

Exhibition items utilize the principle of concave mirror imaging to allow the audience to experience the visual phenomenon of shaking hands with themselves in front of the mirror.
