Shanghai Inertia Automation Co., Ltd. designs and manufactures science-education exhibits, backed by a complete in-house production line and years of mechanical-automation engineering. We supply city- and county-level science museums, children's discovery centers, children's science playgrounds, campus science rooms and community science centers in China, and provide OEM/Contract manufacturing for museum contractors and exhibition design institutes. We also deliver complete overseas packages with on-site installation, taking overseas science museums and children's science centers from exhibit selection through to handover.
1. Company Overview
Shanghai Inertia Automation Co., Ltd. is an equipment manufacturer focused on the custom design and production of science-education exhibits, supported by a complete industrial production line and mechanical-automation capability. We are the standing director unit of the Science Exhibit Factory Alliance. Our main output is exhibits for city- and county-level science museums, together with interactive science equipment for campus and community science museums.
The company owns several registered trademarks, including "Inertia" and "PopSciCat", used respectively for exhibit manufacturing and supply, and for online exhibit selection.
We invest continuously in product development and process improvement — working on operating stability, standard configuration, ease of use and after-sales support — so that our exhibits fit museums of different types and budgets. Every unit passes multi-stage in-house inspection before dispatch, is checked item by item against the project acceptance criteria at delivery, and is commissioned together with the museum's own team on site.
2. Manufacturing and Process Capability
The company operates more than 3,000 m² of production and assembly space. Key equipment includes:
- Shearing machine
- Cutting machine
- Laser engraving machine
- Press brake
- Planer
- Punch press
- Drilling & milling machine
- CNC lathe
- Woodworking sliding-table saw
- Woodworking engraving machine
- Packing equipment
- Electrical assembly stations
Together this forms a complete industrial production line. We also run a dedicated painting and powder-coating workshop with compliant emission treatment facilities and the relevant permits. Because the main processes are completed in-house, the production chain stays under our control — which helps us keep to schedule and ship orders on time.
3. Product Range
We currently build more than 2,000 exhibit models across aerospace, energy, mechanics, acoustics, electricity, magnetism, mathematics and human-machine interaction, covering both mechanical and mechatronic interactive exhibits, in 16 exhibit categories. Every exhibit starts from the idea that a visitor should be able to operate it straight away: interaction and participation come first, and most exhibits support hands-on operation, group play and repeated use — which suits high-traffic venues such as science museums, children's discovery centers and children's science playgrounds. Our exhibits are delivered across China and exported overseas; several specialist science-museum exhibit types have been built many times over, so the manufacturing experience is mature, and each can be adapted to a venue's theme and floor conditions.
4. How We Work With Clients
We propose an exhibit mix based on the venue's theme and floor area, supply stock exhibits directly, and provide installation guidance plus after-sales maintenance.
Structural fabrication, mechatronic assembly and full-unit manufacturing for design institutes and exhibition integrators — built to drawing, delivered to schedule.
5. Projects in China and Overseas
Our exhibits are in service at science museums, science centers and children's discovery centers across Shandong, Jiangsu, Hubei, Fujian, Gansu, Qinghai, Guangdong, Henan, Zhejiang and other provinces — covering general science museums, children's science playgrounds, campus science rooms, community science centers and mobile science museums. From single-unit purchases to complete museum packages, we have mature project experience, and the number of delivered projects in China keeps growing.
On the overseas side, we handle export packing, complete-set supply and on-site installation and commissioning, giving overseas science museums, children's science centers and children's discovery centers one-stop support from exhibit selection and manufacturing through to installation. A representative case is Museum Mega Science Center (MMSC, Jatim Park 1) in Batu, Indonesia: a venue of roughly 18,000 m² where we supplied and installed more than 200 interactive exhibits covering mechanics, electromagnetism, mathematics, optical illusion, children's interaction, vibration and other zones. Our team stayed on site for over two months to complete installation, commissioning and acceptance support, and the museum is now open and operating. Continuous delivery at home and abroad has given us practical experience in adapting exhibits to different climates, building conditions and visitor age groups.
6. We Make Things
Few companies in science-exhibit manufacturing run a factory with a full set of production equipment. Shanghai Inertia is one of them. While part of the industry has moved towards multimedia content or general contracting, we have stayed with physical manufacturing — continuing to invest in the research and production of mechanical interactive exhibits, and taking part in industry exchange as the standing director unit of the Science Exhibit Factory Alliance.
We hold to the aim behind our founding: to put professional science-museum exhibits within reach of communities and schools. Standardised production and bulk purchasing keep manufacturing cost down, and bring the price of exhibits commonly seen in provincial and municipal science museums into a range that county-level museums, communities and schools can afford — so that more people get to use real, professional science exhibits, and so that schools in remote areas can be equipped with interactive exhibits of the same specification as city venues, not only when a mobile science museum happens to visit.
7. The Science Exhibit Factory Alliance
In May 2020, to protect the legitimate interests of manufacturing companies, to promote cooperation with science-association and education authorities, and to bring better-value exhibits into science museums, schools and communities, Shanghai Inertia Automation Co., Ltd. joined with more than ten other exhibit manufacturers to found the Science Exhibit Factory Alliance.
The Alliance is a non-governmental, non-profit body based in Shanghai, with Shanghai Inertia Automation Co., Ltd. as its standing director unit. It charges no membership fee, and exists to strengthen industry exchange and support the long-term development of the sector. It now has over 30 member companies across Shanghai, Beijing, Anhui, Jiangsu, Shandong, Zhejiang, Henan, Guangdong, Hubei, Sichuan, Hebei and elsewhere.
8. In Closing
There is still a long way to go before science exhibits are truly widespread. Shanghai Inertia will stay rooted in physical manufacturing, growing its domestic base while expanding overseas step by step, and working with Alliance members as a link between companies, government departments and the public to support the healthy development of the science-exhibit industry.
