Lightpress Windmill - Customization of Science Museum Exhibitions, Campus Community Science Popularization Equipment, Source Manufacturer of Science Exhibitions Description and Introduction of Scientific Principles:
Operating instructions: Press the "Start" button and observe the entire process of the small wind turbine from stationary to moving. Function Overview: Exhibition items consist of two sets of spotlights and a windmill. The windmill has four blades, two black and two white. When the light shines on the windmill blades, more and more energy is concentrated on the black back of the blades, causing a light energy difference between the black and white blades, which is converted into mechanical energy and drives the impeller to rotate. Scientific principle: One side of the fan blade of a small wind turbine is white and the other side is black. The black side absorbs light particles, while the white side reflects them. The light pressure obtained by the white side is twice that of the black side, so the uneven pressure causes the wind turbine to rotate. Light pressure is the result of light particles transferring their momentum to an object. Due to the particle nature of light, when it reaches an object, according to the momentum theorem, it will exert a certain pressure on the object. A large number of photons acting for a long time will form a stable pressure. Assuming a monochromatic light with a frequency of υ, the energy per square meter vertically incident on the surface of an object per second is E, then the number of photons vertically incident on the surface of an object per square meter per second is N=E/(h υ). Because each photon has momentum p=h υ/c, when a photon is absorbed by an object, the momentum transmitted to the object by each photon is p=h υ/c. If all incident photons are absorbed by the object, the momentum obtained per square meter of the object's surface per second should be equal to N • p=E/c. The momentum obtained per square meter per second on the surface of an object, i.e. the light pressure acting on this surface, is E/c. When a photon is reflected by an object, its momentum changes from+h υ/c to - h υ/c, and the momentum transmitted by each photon to the object is 2p=2 h υ/c. If all incident photons are reflected by the object, the optical pressure acting on the surface of the object is N • 2p=2E/c.
