Discovering Electromagnetic Waves - Customization of Science Museum Exhibitions, Campus Community Science Popularization Equipment, Source Manufacturer of Science Exhibitions Description and Introduction of Scientific Principles:
The exhibition items are mainly installed in a vacuum tube, consisting of an electromagnetic wave emitter, a copper ring embedded with neon bubbles, and a half wave antenna embedded with neon bubbles, showcasing knowledge of electromagnetic waves. Electromagnetic waves are alternating electromagnetic fields that propagate in space, existing through the interaction and interdependence of changing electric and magnetic fields. Radio waves, infrared rays, visible light, ultraviolet rays, X-rays, and gamma rays are all electromagnetic waves of different wavelengths. Any object with a temperature greater than absolute zero can emit electromagnetic waves. However, only electromagnetic waves within the visible light frequency domain can be seen by people. Electromagnetic waves do not need to rely on media for propagation. Various electromagnetic waves have a fixed velocity in vacuum, which is the speed of light. The exhibition items simulated scientist Hertz's experiment back then, reproducing the emission and reception of electromagnetic waves. The high-frequency electronic tubes of the Hertz oscillator form a high-frequency oscillation circuit, which excites the radiation of electric dipoles and generates electromagnetic waves. The electromagnetic field of the electromagnetic waves in the exhibition items is mainly in the direction perpendicular to the dipole oscillator and polarized in the plane determined by the dipole oscillator and the vector. The electromagnetic induction coil and the light bulb form a closed circuit. When the electromagnetic wave reaches the induction coil, induced electromotive force and induced current are generated in the coil, and the light bulb is lit. There are many applications of electromagnetic waves, such as radio waves for wireless telegraphy and communication, infrared for making night vision devices, visible light for remote sensing and communication technology, ultraviolet for sterilization, X-rays for detection and research fields such as ionization meters, scintillation counters, and photosensitive latex films, and gamma rays for treating tumors.
