Exhibition Description

Exhibitions are located in the Children's Happy City exhibition area. As shown in the above figure, the bird's nest environment is shaped like a large tree, with various bird nest models hanging on the tree. Inside the nest, there are various bird models. When participants step on the sensing floor tiles, the corresponding birds will be triggered to pop out of the nest, emitting their own beautiful songs. When the audience participates, they enter the interactive area, step on the marked sensing area, and observe what kind of birds will pop up and sing in the nest on the tree.

Presentation format and purpose

Through the presentation of electromechanical interaction and models, combined with the surrounding tree environment, we aim to learn about bird knowledge and understand the importance of protecting nature.

Exhibition Content

Nesting is a prominent feature of bird breeding activities. The reproduction of birds generally begins with nest building activities and ends with young birds leaving the nest. The role of bird nests in bird reproduction and development mainly includes the following four points: 1. Bird nests can prevent eggs from rolling apart and gather them into clusters; 2. Bird nests are beneficial for parent birds to feed their chicks and avoid predators; 3. The bird's nest can maintain the optimal temperature required for the development of eggs and chicks; 4. Nesting behavior is beneficial for the reproductive behavior of birds.

The nests of lower taxa are relatively rudimentary, consisting only of shallow plates assembled from a few branches; The nests of herons, falcons, and some large sparrows are mainly composed of thick branches reinforced with soil, lined with soft materials such as twigs, grass stems, feathers, and fur, forming pot shaped nests. Advanced sparrows are skilled at weaving exquisite nests, mainly using fine grass stems, plant fibers, etc. to weave dish shaped, spherical, or long necked bottle shaped nests. Some use spider silk and other soft materials such as moss and animal hair to wrap and reinforce them, forming elastic felt like nests.
