Exhibition Name
Automotive steering gear
Science Behind It
There are many types of mechanisms for automotive steering gears, and this exhibition mainly showcases the worm crank pin steering mechanism. From the schematic diagram, it can be seen that the steering mechanism is mainly composed of thrust bearings, worm gears, rocker arms, and other components. Among them, the worm has trapezoidal threads and is connected to the steering wheel through thrust bearings. The finger shaped conical finger pin is embedded in the worm spiral groove and supported on the crankshaft by bearings, while being connected to the steering rocker arm through the rocker arm shaft. When the car turns, the steering wheel drives the worm to rotate, causing the tapered finger pin to rotate on its own while making a circular motion around the rocker arm shaft, thereby driving the crank and steering arm to swing, and then the steering wheel to deflect through the connected steering transmission mechanism. This type of steering gear is usually used on cargo vehicles.
