Science Behind It
When the human eye observes a scene, light signals are transmitted to the brain through the optic nerve to form vision. However, after the effect of light ends, the visual image in the brain does not immediately disappear, but stays for 0.1 to 0.4 seconds, which is the phenomenon of visual persistence in the human eye. The curved disc in the box is 3D printed, and its shape may seem irregular, but each cross-section is actually a different posture of a small person. When the laser is irradiated onto the cross-section of the curved surface, a posture is displayed. After the curved disk rotates, due to the persistence of human visual perception, we will observe the next pose before the visual image of the previous pose disappears, and thus we see the continuous movements of the little person. In fact, animation is the use of human visual persistence to continuously and quickly play pictures, allowing us to see dynamic images. Look for it, what other exhibits next to it utilize the phenomenon of visual persistence?
