Science Behind It
Moving the grating, this seemingly irregular image presents a cyclic moving image as the grating moves. Why does this irregular image appear in sequence instead of overlapping together? This is the function of the grating. Through the grating, only partial content of the image can be seen, and the human brain has an "auto completion" effect, which associates parts with the whole, so we "see" a complete image. The movement of the grating allows the content to be seen changing through it, and the human brain completes each image. With the combined effect of human visual persistence, each frame of the image forms an animation. Move the grating board at different speeds with your hands. The faster the movement, the faster the animation frequency, and vice versa. You can experience the frequency of the animation based on different scrolling speeds.
