1. Content

The exhibition items are hung on an iron rod parallel to the ground, with 21 iron rods perpendicular to the ground suspended at equal intervals. A magnet is embedded below the iron rod, and above it, it can swing back and forth in a certain space. The first, eleventh, and twenty-first iron rods have cranks above them for tourists to hold. When tourists swing the cranks back and forth, the magnets will attract magnets within a certain distance and swing back and forth accordingly. After all magnets are stationary, the audience can swing the crank above the first, 11th, and 21st iron bars back and forth separately or simultaneously; Carefully observe the motion status of all magnets. Learn about magnet related knowledge through interaction and explanatory cards.

As is well known, the magnitude of the attractive force of a magnet is related to the distance of the attracted object. Distance affects the density of magnetic field lines, that is, the strength of the magnetic field. Within a certain distance, the two are inversely proportional, so the magnetic force is maximum when they come into contact with each other.

2. Principle

The components of a magnet are atoms such as iron, cobalt, and nickel, and their internal structure is quite unique, possessing a magnetic moment. Magnet types: Shape magnets: block magnets, tile magnets, irregular magnets, cylindrical magnets, ring magnets, disc magnets, magnetic bar magnets, magnetic frame magnets, Attribute magnets: samarium cobalt magnets, neodymium iron boron magnets (strong magnets), ferrite magnets, aluminum nickel cobalt magnets, iron chromium cobalt magnets, Industry magnets: magnetic components, motor magnets, rubber magnets, plastic magnets, and so on. Magnets are divided into permanent magnets and soft magnets. Permanent magnets add strong magnetism to align the spin and electron angular momentum of magnetic materials in a fixed direction, while soft magnets add electricity. (It is also a method of adding magnetic force) Removing soft iron with current will gradually lose its magnetism.

Magnets can generate magnetic fields and have the characteristic of attracting ferromagnetic substances such as iron, nickel, cobalt, and other metals.

Hang the midpoint of the bar magnet with a thin wire, and when it is stationary, its two ends will point to the south and north of the earth. The end pointing north is called the North Pole or N Pole, and the end pointing south is called the Guide Pole or S Pole.

If we imagine the Earth as a large magnet, then the geomagnetic North Pole refers to the South Pole, and the geomagnetic South Pole refers to the North Pole. Between magnets, magnetic poles with the same name repel each other, while magnetic poles with different names attract each other. So, the compass is opposed to the South Pole, the North Pole is opposed to the North Pole, and the compass is attracted to the North Pole.

Classification: Magnets can be divided into "permanent magnets" and "non permanent magnets". Permanent magnets can be natural products, also known as natural magnets, or artificially manufactured. Non permanent magnets, such as electromagnets, only exhibit magnetism under certain conditions.

3. Purpose

The exhibition items allow the audience to learn about the scientific knowledge related to magnets while experiencing fun through mechanical interaction.
