Friction induced electrification - customized science museum exhibitions, campus community science popularization equipment, source manufacturer of science exhibitions, exhibition description and scientific principle introduction:

This exhibit item is mainly composed of glass and foam particles under the glass. Pick up the brush on the table and slide along the glass surface, and the foam particles under the glass will be attracted and move. This showcases knowledge related to static electricity. Frictional electrification refers to the phenomenon where two different objects rub against each other, one carrying a positive charge and the other carrying a negative charge. When a brush is used to rub against glass, static electricity is generated on the glass. Charged bodies have the property of attracting small and light objects, so foam particles will be attracted and move. Static electricity is formed by the redistribution of charges caused by friction, as well as the redistribution of charges caused by mutual attraction of charges. In general, the positive charge of the atomic nucleus is equal to the negative charge of the electron, resulting in a balance between positive and negative charges, so it does not exhibit electronegativity. But if electrons are displaced from their orbit by external forces, it will cause an unbalanced distribution of electrons, such as frictional charging, which is a process that causes an imbalance between positive and negative charges. When two different objects come into contact with each other and rub against each other, the electrons of one object are transferred to another object and become positively charged due to the lack of electrons, while the other object becomes negatively charged after receiving some remaining electrons. Now scientists have invented a frictional nanogenerator that can harvest energy from the friction between car wheels and the ground. Once the technology matures, its application prospects will be very broad!
