1. Content

The exhibition items consist of a large clock mechanical device, pendulum swing and suspension device, support device, and timing device. Exhibition items are for one person only, visitors need to be guided by staff and wait in line. Set up fences to ensure safety within the swing area, simulate a circular pendulum shape for the seats, and install safety locking devices to ensure the safety of children's experiences. After the child sits down, the staff applies force to the swing, and the swing begins to swing, driving the clock mechanical device to start working. Due to the weakening of the clock's outer shell, the internal mechanical structure can be displayed in front of visitors. Children sitting on the swing can also look up and observe the transmission of the gear set (including the prime mover, transmission, escapement speed control, needle walking, and upper needle setting), more comprehensively appreciating the beauty of the machinery and understanding the operating principles. One person can experience for 1 minute, including 30 seconds of up and down swing and 30 seconds of riding on the swing. The timing display for exhibition items is set inside the dial in front of the exhibition items.

2. Principle

The working principle of a single pendulum clock: The pendulum clock was invented in 1657 and is a type of clock that uses a pendulum to control other components, making the clock travel evenly and generally able to tell the time. It is manufactured according to the law of pendulum motion.

The principle of a pendulum clock is to utilize the isochronicity of a pendulum, which can be used for timing. The formula for the period of a pendulum is: time=twice the pi multiplied by the length of the pendulum at the root divided by the gravitational acceleration [T=2 π (l/g) ^ 0.5]. From the formula and its derivation, it can be seen that the pendulum motion relies on gravity and the tension of the rope. The period of oscillation only depends on the length of the rope and the acceleration of gravity. The Earth's gravitational acceleration is fixed, and the pendulum length can be controlled to adjust the period for timing.

3. Purpose

Exhibition items showcase relevant scientific knowledge such as circuits through the design of interesting interactive experience devices.
