Momentum Machine - Customized Science Museum Exhibitions, Campus Community Science Popularization Equipment, Source Manufacturer of Science Exhibitions Description and Introduction of Scientific Principles:
The participant stands on a circular platform, holds the handle, steps back with one foot, begins to rotate, lifts and extends one leg, and the speed gradually slows down. When you retract that leg and bring your legs together, you will find that the speed increases again. Actually, when you step back with one leg, you and the cone start to rotate. This kind of rotation is like a figure skater spinning on ice, when you open your arms, you will slow down yourself. When you hold your arms tightly, you will speed up, so you can adjust your rotation speed with the telescopic legs. Scientists use angular momentum to describe the rotational motion of an object. Angular momentum is a combination of velocity (v), mass (m), and distance from the center of mass to the axis of rotation (r). In a quick way, it can be expressed as: angular momentum=vmr, once an object begins to rotate, there is a tendency to maintain rotation. This trend is called the law of conservation of angular momentum.
