What It Shows
Exhibition items consist of a turntable, a circular ring, a disc, and a booth. When participants press the start button, the turntable begins to rotate, source factory of science museum exhibits - Shanghai Inertia Automation Co., Ltd. Participants are prompted to place a ring or disk on a slope, and the ring or disk will roll along the slope to the turntable. In the rotating turntable, the ring or disk will have different motion states.
Science Behind It
A particle undergoing linear motion in a rotating system tends to continue moving along its original direction due to inertia, source factory of science museum exhibits - Shanghai Inertia Automation Co., Ltd. However, due to the rotation of the system itself, the positions of particles in the system will change after a period of motion, and the direction of their original motion trend will deviate to a certain extent if observed from the perspective of a rotating system.
How to Take Part
Participants press the button, the turntable rotates, and roll the circular ring, disk, or sphere from the slope into the turntable or use wooden sticks to assist props in running in the disk, observing the effect of composite force on the motion state of the object.
