Radiant Ball - Customized Science Museum Exhibitions, Campus Community Science Popularization Equipment, Source Manufacturer of Science Exhibitions Description and Introduction of Scientific Principles:

After energizing the glowing ball, you will see a brilliant glow; When you lightly touch the surface of the glowing ball with your fingers, the glow around your fingers becomes brighter, and the resulting arc flows, twists, and dances along the touch of your hand. Do you know why this is? The scientific principle is actually very simple, that is, the luminous sphere utilizes the principle of inert gas discharge. Inert gas discharge refers to the presence of freely charged particles in certain gases. If two electrodes are placed in the gas and a voltage is applied, a current will flow through the gas. This is inert gas discharge. The interior of the glow ball is filled with a thin inert gas (such as argon). In the center of the glow ball, there is a black spherical electrode, and at the bottom of the ball, there is a vibrating circuit board. When the glowing ball is electrified, the oscillation circuit will generate high-frequency voltage, and the thin gas inside the ball will emit a mysterious glow due to the ionization effect of the high-frequency electric field. When touching the surface of a glowing ball with hands, the electric field and potential around the ball are no longer uniformly symmetrical, so the glow around the fingers becomes brighter. There are many applications of gas discharge, such as neon lights made using its luminous effect. It is said that British chemist Ramsey injected a rare gas into a vacuum glass tube in an experiment, and then connected two metal electrodes enclosed in the vacuum glass tube to a high-voltage power supply. He was pleasantly surprised to find that an extremely beautiful red light was emitted inside the glass tube, which is the process of discovering neon lights.
