The Mengjin Science Museum is located in Mengjin District, Luoyang City, Henan Province. It is an important county-level comprehensive science popularization education venue in western Henan Province and a core carrier for implementing the national science literacy action plan in the local area. The total construction area of the venue is about 4200 square meters, with an actual exhibition hall usage area of 2600 square meters. The venue will be officially completed and open to the public in 2019. In 2023, partial exhibition items will be updated and renovated, and some old electromechanical interactive exhibitions will be upgraded with components to replace aging sensors and control systems. The equipment safety protection structure of the children's exhibition area will be optimized. After the renovation, the integrity rate of exhibitions will be greatly improved. The venue is positioned for the public of all ages, with the core service group being primary and secondary school students, families with children in the entire district. At the same time, it meets the needs of community residents for science popularization and implements a free reservation system for opening to the public. It is open from Wednesday to Sunday and closed for maintenance on Monday and Tuesday.
There are five permanent themed exhibition halls in the museum, namely the Basic Science Hall, Life and Health Hall, Disaster Prevention and Reduction Safety Experience Hall, Children's Science Playground, and Local Science and Technology Culture Exhibition Hall. The Basic Science Hall is equipped with a series of classic interactive science popularization exhibition items in mechanics, acoustics, optics, and electromagnetics. Viewers can personally operate the exhibitions to intuitively experience various phenomena in the physical world, breaking free from the constraints of abstract theories in textbooks; The Department of Life and Health conducts science popularization around human anatomy, physiological functions, and nutritional diets, setting up multiple sets of interactive experience devices to help young people establish a healthy lifestyle concept; The Disaster Prevention and Reduction Safety Experience Hall is a key characteristic exhibition area of the Mengjin Science Museum. It is equipped with an earthquake simulation platform, fire smoke escape routes, and emergency evacuation knowledge exchange devices. Immersive safety education is carried out for common types of disasters in western Henan, such as earthquakes, fires, and floods. Many primary and secondary schools in the area use this place as a designated practice site for safety research. The Children's Science Playground is specifically designed for children aged 3-8 years old. All exhibit items have undergone rounded corner safety treatment, including water science, game building, and sensory exploration equipment, adapted to the cognitive rhythm of young children. The Local Science and Technology Culture Exhibition Hall delves into the local historical resources of Mengjin, using ancient science and technology from the He Luo region and agricultural techniques from the Yellow River Basin as entry points for popular science. At the operational level, Mengjin Science Museum has established a comprehensive system of in museum activities and a science popularization service system that extends beyond the museum.
