The Tanghe County Science Museum is located in Tanghe County, Nanyang City, Henan Province. It is a comprehensive science popularization venue at the county level in southwestern Henan Province. It will officially open to the public in 2023, with a total construction area of 3600 square meters and an exhibition hall area of 1800 square meters. Complete the debugging and upgrading of some exhibition items in 2024, optimize the safety configuration of the children's exhibition area, and update the control modules of some mechanical and electrical exhibitions. The venue is open for free reservation, and receives public visits from Wednesday to Sunday. It is closed for maintenance on Monday and Tuesday, serving the people of Tanghe County and surrounding counties. It is a representative project of science popularization venue construction in Henan counties.
The venue is divided into six sections: Basic Science Exhibition Hall, Life and Health Exhibition Hall, Disaster Prevention Science Popularization Exhibition Hall, Youth Innovation Exhibition Hall, Children's Science Playground, and Temporary Exhibition Hall. The basic science exhibition hall is equipped with classic interactive science exhibitions on sound, light, electricity, and magnetism to meet the basic science experience needs of primary and secondary school students in the county; Popularize human knowledge and hygiene and epidemic prevention related knowledge in the Life and Health Exhibition Hall; The Disaster Prevention Science Popularization Exhibition Hall conducts earthquake and fire prevention science popularization training for common disasters in the Central Plains region; Set up simple maker equipment in the Youth Innovation Exhibition Hall and carry out science and technology innovation enlightenment education; Children's Science Playground is designed for young children, with all equipment rounded for safety, and features construction and water play experience projects; Temporary exhibition halls introduce city level and provincial-level science popularization exhibitions, achieving low-cost rotation of exhibition hall content.
The venue will focus on promoting cooperation between the venue and the school, and connect with primary and secondary schools in the county to carry out extracurricular science popularization practices. School groups can make appointments for explanation services. Regularly conduct weekend science popularization classes and science experiment shows, and carry out youth technology experience activities during winter and summer vacations. Utilize science popularization caravans to go deep into primary and secondary schools in towns and villages, deliver interactive science popularization resources to rural campuses, and alleviate the current situation of insufficient science popularization resources in counties and rural areas. At the same time, we will undertake peer exchanges with neighboring county-level science popularization venues and share our experience in operating county-level venues.
In the Central Plains region, there is a large temperature difference throughout the four seasons. The operation and maintenance personnel establish equipment maintenance records, conduct exhibition inspections in closed rooms every day, and regularly repair and replace consumable parts such as motors and sensors to ensure the stable operation of the equipment. Tanghe County Science Museum fills the gap in science popularization in southwestern Henan, allowing grassroots people to enjoy high-quality science popularization education services at their doorstep.
