The Shaanxi Science Museum is located in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province. It is a provincial-level comprehensive science popularization venue in Shaanxi Province. The old museum was built in the 1980s, and the new museum has been renovated and expanded. It officially opened to the public in 2017, with a total construction area of 14600 square meters and a permanent exhibition hall area of 7400 square meters. Complete the partial upgrade and renovation of exhibition items in 2020, and iterate the control system of the electromechanical exhibitions in the basic science exhibition area; In 2023, the children's science playground will undergo a comprehensive renovation, updating aging interactive equipment and improving safety protection facilities. The venue implements a free online real name reservation system, open to the public from Wednesday to Sunday, and closed on Monday and Tuesday for equipment maintenance. It transforms the wisdom of ancient astronomy, metallurgy, architecture, and agriculture into popular science exhibition and teaching content, achieving the organic integration of traditional Chinese science and technology culture and modern popular science; The temporary exhibition hall regularly introduces nationwide science popularization exhibitions, rotating exhibition content around hot topics such as aerospace, carbon neutrality, and artificial intelligence, and continuously supplementing the exhibition hall with fresh science popularization resources.
As the leading venue for science popularization in Shaanxi Province, Shaanxi Science Museum undertakes the function of radiating and driving science popularization throughout the province. The museum regularly conducts scientific experiment shows, Sanqin Science Popularization Lectures, Youth Science and Technology Innovation Competitions, and Science Carnival activities. Multiple science and technology research summer camps are held during winter and summer vacations, and hierarchical research courses are developed for kindergartens, primary schools, and junior high schools. The large temperature difference throughout the four seasons in Xi'an will have a certain impact on the operation of mechanical and electrical exhibition components.
