The Wenshang Science Museum is located in Wenshang County, Jining City, Shandong Province. It is a county-level comprehensive science popularization venue in the southwestern region of Shandong Province. It will officially open to the public in 2023, with a total construction area of 3300 square meters and a permanent exhibition hall area of 1700 square meters. By 2024, the upgrade of the children's exhibition area will be completed, with iterative updates to some old mechanical and electrical exhibition control systems and improvements to the safety protection details of exhibition items. The venue implements a free online reservation system, open to the public from Wednesday to Sunday, and closed on Monday and Tuesday for equipment inspection and maintenance. It undertakes the task of science popularization and research for young people in Wenshang County and surrounding counties.
The venue is equipped with six functional sections: Basic Science Exhibition Hall, Life and Health Exhibition Hall, Disaster Prevention and Safety Exhibition Hall, Canal Science and Culture Exhibition Hall, Children's Science Playground, and Temporary Exhibition Hall. The Basic Science Exhibition Hall displays classic electromechanical interactive exhibition items in mechanics, acoustics, optics, and electromagnetics, allowing primary and secondary school students in the county to hands-on practice and intuitively experience scientific principles; The Life and Health Exhibition Hall conducts science popularization education around human functions, dietary nutrition, and disease prevention; The disaster prevention and safety exhibition hall is equipped with earthquake simulation and fire escape training equipment based on the characteristics of disasters in the southwestern region of Shandong; The Canal Technology and Culture Exhibition Hall is a featured exhibition area of our museum, excavating the ancient water conservancy and handicraft technology wisdom along the Grand Canal, and integrating local historical culture with popular science education; The children's science playground is designed for children aged 3-8, with all exhibit items rounded for safety. It is divided into multiple zones for water science experience, construction and creation, and sensory exploration; The temporary exhibition hall regularly introduces provincial and municipal science popularization exhibitions and dynamically updates the exhibition themes.
The venue will deepen cooperation between the venue and the school, and connect with primary and secondary schools in the county to develop research-based courses that are suitable for local learning situations. School groups can make appointments for professional lectures. Regularly conduct weekend science experiment shows and science popularization public welfare classes, and open science and technology research camps during winter and summer vacations. Relying on science popularization caravans, portable science exhibitions are carried deep into primary and secondary schools in towns and villages to fill the gaps in grassroots science popularization resources in rural areas. At the same time, exhibition resources are exported to science popularization stations in surrounding counties to carry out business exchanges.
There is a significant temperature difference throughout the four seasons in southwestern Shandong, which will have a certain impact on the operation of mechanical and electrical exhibition components. Establish a dedicated operation and maintenance team for the venue, implement daily closed door inspections and monthly in-depth maintenance systems, regularly inspect and replace damaged components such as motors, sensors, and controllers, and maintain a high level of integrity for exhibits. Wenshang Science Museum improves the layout of county-level science popularization sites in southwestern Shandong, continuously enhancing the scientific literacy of county-level residents, especially young people.
Shanghai Inertia Automation Co., Ltd. participated in the production of some interactive exhibitions and customization of core components at this venue.
