The Wuhu Science Museum is located in Wuhu City, Anhui Province. It is an important city level comprehensive science popularization venue in southern Anhui Province. The new museum will open to the public in 2022, with a total construction area of 21000 square meters and a permanent exhibition hall area of 9200 square meters. It is equipped with a 4D science popularization cinema, a lecture hall, and a maker workshop. Complete the update and iteration of the automotive industry theme exhibition area by 2024; Renovate the Children's Science Playground by 2025 and upgrade the entire electromechanical exhibits control system. The venue implements a free online reservation visit mode, open to the public from Wednesday to Sunday, and closed for maintenance on Monday and Tuesday. It radiates to surrounding cities in southern Anhui and is an important landmark of science popularization, culture and tourism in southern Anhui.
The venue has six permanent exhibition areas: Science Exploration Hall, Automotive and Intelligent Manufacturing Hall, Life and Health Hall, Ecological Environment Hall, Children's Science Playground, and Wuhu Science and Technology History Exhibition Hall. The Science Exploration Hall gathers a large number of interactive exhibitions in mechanics, acoustics, optics, and electromagnetics for visitors to experience basic scientific phenomena firsthand; The Automotive and Intelligent Manufacturing Hall is a distinctive feature of our museum, based on the advantages of Wuhu's automotive industry, and equipped with multiple sets of industrial science popularization immersive interactive experience devices; The Department of Life and Health conducts science popularization around human physiology and biomedicine; The Department of Ecology and Environment focuses on the theme of Yangtze River ecological protection and green low-carbon; The children's science playground is divided into experience zones according to age groups, adapted to different cognitive levels of children; The Wuhu Science and Technology History Exhibition Hall sorts out the ancient technological achievements of Wuhu and the local industrial scientific and technological innovation achievements such as modern automobiles and shipbuilding. The 4D cinema plays science popularization films in a loop, and the maker workshop supports hands-on practical courses in science and technology innovation.
Relying on the local automobile and equipment manufacturing industry resources in Wuhu, the venue collaborates deeply with local high-tech enterprises to transform industrial resources into popular science content. The research-based curriculum covers the entire school stage from kindergarten to junior and senior high school, and a large number of primary and secondary schools in southern Anhui have conducted off campus practice here. The museum regularly conducts scientific experimental dramas, popular science lectures, and youth science and technology innovation competitions, and holds multiple science and technology research camps during winter and summer vacations. As the core base of science popularization in southern Anhui, we export exhibition resources to surrounding cities and exchange experience in venue operation and exhibition maintenance.
The venue has a large passenger flow, and the high-frequency use of exhibitions leads to fast wear and tear. Adequate maintenance channels have been reserved in the early design of the exhibition hall. The dedicated operation and maintenance technical team strictly implements the daily inspection and quarterly deep maintenance system, periodically replacing damaged components such as motors, sensors, controllers, etc., to ensure the stable operation of large-scale electromechanical interactive exhibitions. The Wuhu Science Museum fills the gap in large-scale science popularization venues in southern Anhui and helps cultivate the scientific and technological innovation abilities of young people in the region.
