The Songjiang Science Museum is located in Songjiang District, Shanghai, and is a district level comprehensive science popularization venue in the southwest of Shanghai. The venue was built and opened in 2007, with a total construction area of 4800 square meters and an exhibition hall area of 2600 square meters. Complete the upgrade and renovation of the main venue in 2020, and update the mechanical and electrical exhibitions in the basic science exhibition area; In 2023, the children's science exploration area will undergo a comprehensive renovation, upgrading the entire control system and optimizing the accessibility facilities in the exhibition hall. The venue is open to the public for free, implementing an online real name reservation mode to serve the entire Songjiang district and radiate to the southwestern suburbs of Shanghai. It is open from Wednesday to Sunday and closed for maintenance on Monday and Tuesday.
The venue is divided into five sections: Basic Science Exhibition Hall, Artificial Intelligence Exhibition Hall, Life and Ecology Exhibition Hall, Children's Science Exploration Area, and Temporary Exhibition Hall. The Basic Science Exhibition Hall displays a large number of interactive exhibits on sound, light, electricity, magnetism, mechanics, and electronics, providing visitors with hands-on experience of physical science phenomena; The artificial intelligence exhibition hall is a key area after renovation and upgrading, equipped with robot interaction, AI sensory experience science popularization equipment, and easy to explain the basic principles of digital technology; The Life and Ecology Exhibition Hall combines local ecological resources in Songjiang to carry out science popularization on human body and natural ecology; The Children's Science Exploration Zone is designed specifically for young children, featuring water powered games, building creativity, and sensory science popularization exhibition items; The temporary exhibition hall regularly introduces high-quality science popularization tours from the Yangtze River Delta region, rotating content around themes such as aerospace, ocean, and carbon neutrality.
The Songjiang Science Museum relies on Shanghai's abundant scientific and educational resources, establishes cooperation with local universities and technology enterprises in Songjiang, and invites researchers to hold science popularization lectures. Layered design of study courses, developing differentiated practical content for different age groups in kindergarten, primary school, and junior high school, and undertaking a large number of collective study tours for schools in the district. The venue actively implements the sinking of science popularization, continuously delivering science popularization exhibitions and scientific experiment shows to primary and secondary schools in various streets, communities, and towns in Songjiang, and delivering science popularization services to residents' doorsteps.
As a district level science museum in the suburbs of Shanghai, there is a high volume of visitors during holidays, and the frequent use of exhibits leads to rapid losses. Establish a high-frequency inspection and maintenance mechanism for the venue, complete daily inspection and maintenance of all interactive exhibition equipment after closing, promptly replace aging sensors and motor components, and ensure stable operation of the equipment. The Songjiang Science Museum is an important part of the science popularization network in the suburbs of Shanghai, responsible for the scientific enlightenment of hundreds of thousands of young people in Songjiang District. It is an excellent practical case of the construction and operation of science museums at the district level in the Yangtze River Delta.
Shanghai Inertia Automation Co., Ltd. participated in the production of some interactive exhibitions and customization of core components at this venue.
